This department emphasizes to create technical professionals who are keen to take engineering responsibilities with a vast knowledge of entire process, medical instrumentation and power plants – a specialization that has grown leaps and bounds in the recent years. Electronics & Instrumentation Engineers carry out the task of measuring, doing research, installing, developing, testing, maintaining and designing various instruments used in the industry. With computer aided processes and automation techniques, these engineers formulate ways to control these systems. To put it crisply, they aim to 'measure the world accurately and to control it precisely'. The program entails understanding and application of best global practices in the fields of Instrumentation and control. It strives in modeling and analysis, leading to simulation/software development career. Department also facilitates a practical environment for students to study the core subjects such as Transducers, Microcontrollers, Control system, Process Control, Embedded Systems, Industrial Automation, Biomedical Signal Processing, & Soft computing techniques, etc. The EIE Department equips students with knowledge of instruments and their management. Department also promotes the research and development activities in the above fields and many more.
Instrumentation engineers work for industries with automated processes, such as chemical or manufacturing plants, with the goal of improving system productivity, reliability, safety, optimization and stability. They find jobs in various sectors including R&D units of public and private sector companies, heavy industries such as thermal power stations, steel plants, refineries, cement and fertilizer plants etc. like DRDO,ISRO,NTPC,DVC,SAIL,TATA Steel, Jindal Group of Industries,GAIL,IOCL,HPCL,BHEL,WBTCL. They have a multidisciplinary role to play. One may choose to move sideways into other areas like Software (IBM, Infosys, TCS, CTS Capgemini etc), Banking (SBI,UBI etc.), Education(Different degree & Diploma Engineering Institutions), Biomedical Instrumentation etc. Biomedical Engineering under EIE Dept. has excellent job prospects as demand for sophisticated medical devices has been increasing. This branch also deals with developing and manufacturing medical equipment, diagnostic devices.
