To create technical professionals who are keen to take engineering responsibilities with a vast knowledge of entire process, medical instrumentation and power plants – a specialization that has grown leaps and bounds in the recent years.
Instrumentation engineers work for industries with automated processes, such as chemical or manufacturing plants, with the goal of improving system productivity, reliability, safety, optimization and stability. They find jobs in various sectors including R&D units of public and private sector companies, heavy industries such as thermal power stations, steel plants, refineries, cement and fertilizer plants etc. like DRDO, ISRO, NTPC, DVC, SAIL, TATA Steel, Jindal Group of Industries, GAIL, IOCL, HPCL, BHEL, WBTCL. They have a multidisciplinary role to play. One may choose to move sideways into other areas like Software (IBM, Infosys, TCS, CTS Capgemini etc), Banking (SBI, UBI etc.), Education (Different degree & Diploma Engineering Institutions), Biomedical Instrumentation etc. Biomedical Engineering under EIE Dept. has excellent job prospects as demand for sophisticated medical devices has been increasing. This branch also deals with developing and manufacturing medical equipment, diagnostic devices.
The Vision of the department is to create Electronics & Instrumentation engineers with outstanding technical competency acceptable worldwide to impart research aptitude for societal benefit.
After having spent four years in the department of EIE , i can say that the department has had an impact on my life well beyond the formal structure of education. It has given me the opportunities to develop knowledge and technical skills and also given exposure about the real life technical industry. The academic curriculum of the dept. is only a part of the learning and growth opportunities that the dept provides which extends into extra-curricular activities, personality development, industry exposure and value system that every engineering student must have. This all helped me in acquiring a job at a MNC, TECH MAHINDRA during campus placements.
In my opinion this testimonial gives me an immense opportunity to accept that I spent my college life in great luxury and triumph. I don't think the college or the teachers may be really proud of me, but the EIE Dept. has not only helped me in developing the perfect instinct but also has helped in making myself more presentable. I was never a diamond with brilliance, but yes these 4 years gave me some brilliant cuts. I thank all those cuts for helping me in building a stronger and a much positive attitude towards life. I am grateful to them for my placement at AMAZON during campus drives.
I, Pritam Saha, am privileged to be a student of Electronics and Instrumentation department, GNIT. The faculties are very supportive and helped me to bring the best out me. Their guidance has enriched my knowledge, inspired my interests and also helped me to bag a job in the reputed MNC, Capgemini.
My son, Anirban Chakraborty, final year student of Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, GNIT, is presently, pursuing B. Tech course in Electronics & Instrumentation from Guru Nanak Institute of Technology. The course has helped him gain knowledge in the respective fields and the teachers have always been a guide and well-wisher in the matter, which has also helped to acquire a job at Tech Mahindra. I will be ever thankful to them.
My daughter Priyanka Das, final year student of Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, GNIT, has acquired knowledge and all the necessary engineering skills in respective fields with impunity and has earned an elite job in an MNC, Capgemini (Campus drive) with the help and proper guidance of the faculty members. I will be ever grateful and thankful to them for their immense support and care.
