It is really a matter of great pleasure to welcome you in the Department of Food Technology of Gurunanak Institute of Technology has emerged as one of the premier educational institute in the field of Food Technology in West Bengal. Since its inception in 2006 with an intake of 60 students the department has undergone continual improvement by organizing several EDP, Seminar, conference, workshop, and symposium. We target at bringing together the technical skills of the industry along with academic expertise of highly experienced and PhD faculty members to disseminate knowledge on the various newer advances and developments in the Food Processing Sector and to emphasize on the different Processing Technologies and its relevance not only to the state level but also to the national and international level. Furthermore students of the department published research papers in different reputed National and International journals, presented Research paper in National/International seminar/ conferences, workshop, and symposium with the guidance of faculty members and awarded also in different oral/poster/ quiz/ Competition held in IIT-KGP, JU, BHU, FOSET, etc.

To create high caliber Food Technology graduates who will be well equipped through the education and training they receive, to support the rapid changes in Food Processing industries and sustain the industrial and economic development of the country.
Food Technologists work for industries with the aim of improving Food quality, Food safety, Food processing operations, optimization of product manufacturing etc. They have tremendous job opportunities in various sectors including both in industry and academia. Our students are placed in ITC Food Division, Britannia Industries Ltd., Thacker Dairy, Bengal Beverages (Coco Cola), Keventer Agro, Indian Dairy Products Pvt. Ltd., Raja Biscuits Pvt. Ltd., Priya Biscuits Ltd., Parle Biscuits, Amrit Feeds, Sobisco Biscuits, Purti Vanaspati, Red Cow Dairy, Monginis , Modern Food Industries , Nestle India Ltd., Anmol Biscuits Ltd., Ganesh Food Products, Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd., Elmac Foods, Shalimar Group, C G Foods Ltd. (Wai Wai) etc. Food Technology graduates can pursue higher studies in different academic institutions e.g. IIT KGP, JU, IICPT, NIFTEM, SLIET, Tezpur University, ICT Mumbai etc. to acquire M.Tech as well as PhD degree and as a result can exploit their academic potential in teaching and R&D both in national and international level of institutions/industries. They also have the opportunity to become successful entrepreneur who can serve for societal benefit.

My son Soumyadeb Bhattacharyya, is the students of 4th year, FT. It’s an amazing campus. One of the most beautiful campus ever seen by me. Beside study there is a good practice of involving there students in various extracurricular activities. All the faculties provide guidance in every phase of his carrier development.
It has always been a matter of pride to be a part of prestigious Food Technology department in Guru Nanak Institute of Technology. As the student of this department, we've always received support and guidance from our faculties whenever needed. Besides covering the syllabus, they've engaged us into innumerous other activities which helped us to know our subject in depth. Friendly guidance from our seniors also paved our road to success. Students from our department have always participated into various technological events and seminars and have always managed to secure some position wherever they go, it's like a legacy for us. Another significant aspect about the department is our faculties encourage us to come up with innovative ideas and engages us to undertake various projects from 2nd year onwards, it gives the students chance to explore their ideas as future technologists.
