The Institute has the facility of providing scholarship schemes to the students enrolled in Graduate and Post Graduate programs from non-government organizations. The students apply for the scholarships schemes and the applications are thoroughly reviewed by the governing body of the Institute and approvals are set accordingly. The list of the scholarship schemes offered by the institute are given below:

Freeship  schemesThe Institute has decided to offer Full Freeship and Half Freeship to the students belonging to poor economic background. To avail this scholarship, the students need to submit relevant documents relating to family income which are to be verified thoroughly before granting the free ship. Students, who are receiving Scholarship/Assistantship from other external funding agencies or under TFW scheme are not considered under this scholarship scheme
Institute UG ScholarshipThe Institute offers a scholarship of Rs.60,000/- @ Rs.10,000/- per semester to the students who have studied their three years Diploma in Engineering in the institute.
Institute PG ScholarshipThe Institute offers a scholarship of 20% on tuition fees i.e Rs.10000/- per semester is applicable to the external students who have scored DGPA of 7.0 and above in their last qualifying examination for pursuing M.Tech. Assistance ship of Rs.3000 per month will also be given to M.Tech students  (M.Tech-Civil Engineering is not eligible for the stipend). The Institute offers a scholarship of 20% of the tuition fees to any student who has completed a B.Tech programme from this institute and secures admission to M.Tech  program in the same institute. Assistance ship of Rs.3000 per month will also be given to M.Tech students (M.Tech-Civil Engineering is not eligible for the stipend). The Institute offers a scholarship of 20% on tuition fees i.e Rs.10000/- per semester is applicable to the external students who have scored DGPA of 7.0 and above in their last qualifying examination for pursuing MCA .
Sikh ScholarshipThe Sikh students of the Institute also receive financial assistance from Gurudwara who provide financial support to the Sikh students from economically poor family background. Students belong to Sikh community may apply for 50% free ship/scholarship on their tuition fees. 50% free ship/scholarship is provided only on tuition fees. The scholarship is only applicable from second semester.
Scholarship Scheme for the North East States

Scholarship of Rs.40, 000/- will be given for the Admission in  Lateral  Entry (B.Tech courses) for students from the North East Region. The details of the Scholarship policy are mentioned below:

  • Candidate must have valid Aadhaar Card.
  • Candidate must secure minimum requisite qualification for admission in B.Tech Lateral course.
  • Scholarship will be available @ Rs. 7000/- each for 3rd & 4th Semester in ( 2nd year ) and Rs. 6500/- each from 5th to 8th Semester ( 3rd & 4th Year) from the existing fees structure .
  • To continue availing the existing scholarship, the student must not have any year lag
Sibling Scholarship SchemeScholarship of 20% on the tuition fee will be given to the immediate sibling of existing and former students for B.Tech, M.Tech and MCA programs. Proof of relation is required to be submitted.
Employee Scholarship Scheme

This Scholarship Scheme is open to the children/immediate sibling of the permanent Employees working in any of the unit of the institute and on a regular payroll. The employee should have minimum 3 years of continuous work experience in the institute as of 30th June of the concerned Academic session. Scholarship will be available to only one child/immediate sibling of the employee.

Scholarship Scheme for the state of Tripura

Scholarship of Rs.40,000/- will be given for the Admission in Lateral Entry (B.Tech courses) for students from the State of Tripura for Guru Nanak Institute.

1.      Candidate must be Resident of State of Tripura with valid Aadhaar Card.

2.      Candidate must secure minimum requisite qualification for admission in B.Tech Lateral course.

3.      Scholarship will be available @ Rs. 7000/- each for 3rd& 4th  Semester in ( 2nd year ) and Rs. 6500/- each from 5th to 8th Semester ( 3rd & 4th Year) from the existing fees structure .

B.Tech (Lateral)

Sikh Scholarship*

Students belonging to Sikh Community may apply for 50% freeship/scholarship on their tuition fees.

Sikh students will have to apply to the Gurudwara first and after receiving the cheque of 50% of their tuition fees the students will have to submit the same to the accounts department of the institution. The students have to submit his application for scholarship to the concerned Head of the Institution along with the money receipt of the 50% Tuition Fee deposited (As received from Gurudwara). After submission of all this relevant documents, scholarship will be processed

50% freeship/scholarship is provided only on tuition fees.

All other fees are to be borne by the students.

Freeship will only be considered from 2nd semester onwards.

Scholarship shall not be available to any child who is already receiving scholarship or financial assistance either from any Govt. or private Agency or from any other institution

A student can avail any one kind of scholarship and will not be able to combine one scholarship with other. WITHDRAWAL OF SCHOLARSHIP:

Scholarship may be withdrawn on any of the following conditions:
  1. a) Failure/Reappear of a student in any semester or detention of a student in any class or examination.
  2. b) If the student gives up the chosen course of study before its completion.
  3. c) If the student is not allowed to take examination on account of shortage of attendance/misconduct/any other disciplinary issue.
  4. d) If the parent employee ceases to be in the services of the Group institutions.
  5. e) Decision of the Board of Governors of the institution shall be final in the matter of continuance or otherwise of this scheme

B.Tech to M.Tech.-

* Eligibility Criteria/Conditions applied for availing Assistance ship (Both external & internal students):

All the regular students, enrolled under various M.Tech Programmes in engineering disciplines as per the prevailing institute norms and regulations, are eligible for the Scholarship/assistantship subject to the fulfilment of following conditions.

  1. The Scholarship/assistantship is tenable for 24 months or for the duration of the course i.e. from the date of commencement of classes till the date of completion of the classes whichever is lower and is not extendable under any circumstances.
  1. The student shall be required to give an undertaking to the effect that he / she would not leave the course midway. In case any student leaves the course in midway he/she will be required to refund the total Scholarship/assistantship drawn at the time of leaving the course.
  1. Students, who are receiving Scholarship/assistantship from other external funding agencies, will also be considered under this scheme.
  1. The students who are receiving Scholarship/assistantship will be required to devote atleast 8-10 hours per week as teaching/ research assistant in their respective departments. This could include tutorials, laboratory classes, development and maintenance of laboratories.
  1. The Scholarship/assistantship will be granted to the student on a semester basis subject to the satisfactory academic and R&D performance and adherence to Institute norms/rules and regulations as applicable time to time.
  1. A Review Committee consisting of HOD, 2 senior faculty of the concerned department and Head of the Department will certify the engagement of each of the student for the release of the Scholarship/assistantship every semester.
  1. The student must obtain a minimum SGPA of 8.0 in all the semester.
  1. In 1st year (1st Semester+2nd Semester), student must present at least one international conference paper and publish at least one SCI indexed Journal paper. If one international conference paper is published in 1st semester then one SCI indexed Journal paper is to be published in 2nd semester or vice versa.
  1. In 2nd year (3rd Semester+4th Semester), student must publish at least one SCI indexed renowned Journal paper with impact factor more than 1.0 in 3rd Semester and present at least one international conference paper in 4th
  1. In 3rd Semester, during 1st July to 31st October publication of at least one SCI indexed Journal papers with impact factor more than 1.0.
  1. In 4th Semester, during 1st January to 31st March publication of at least one international conference paper.
  1. Publication of the student must be in the name of the institute from where he is pursuing his M.Tech& receiving stipend.
  1. The students may publish his Journal /conference paper jointly with the faculty of the concerned institution but not with any other student of the same institution. If he/she publishes any paper jointly with the student of the same institution the said publication will not be considered for renewal of stipend.
  1. The student must abide by the existing LEAVE RULE of the institute for the M.Tech Programme.
  1. As per this rule, an M.Tech Student is eligible for 30 days of leave in an academic year. Any absence over and above the prescribed limit of admissible leave shall entail deduction from the assistantship, besides other actions as may be decided by the Institute, which may be up to the extent of discontinuation of Stipend.
  1. The student must abide by CONDUCT RULES of the institute for the M.Tech Programme. If any disciplinary action is taken by the Institute authority against a student, his/her Stipend shall be discontinued from the date of effect of such order.

Students who lost their father during the courses get 50% freeship on their tuition fees from colleges as per MAKAUT Rules.

Approval process for WBFS & Freeship:

All the applications must be processed through a physical enquiry and proper recommendation of the HOIs.

Basic scrutiny has to be done at the college level.

Only valid applications should be sent to the HO for final approval of the committee.

After getting the final approval all the applications will send back to office of HOI of the colleges along with a list.

Committee may provide the same list mentioning names, course, session and the percentage of free ship to the accounts department for final billing in the ERP

HOI or Committee has the authority to revoke the freeship for any misconduct of the student. Renewal of the freeship of every student may be introduced.
