HOD's Message

I am extremely happy to introduce and welcome you to the department of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology.

The department of ECS has started its journey in 2021 with the idea to equip young minds with technical skills in electronics and computer science, along with ethical values, so that they can make a meaningful contribution towards the development of the country in these fields.

Our department stands as an inspiration of knowledge, dedicated to nurturing young talents and fostering a passion for learning. With a team of experienced faculty members and state-of-the-art facilities, we strive to provide a stimulating environment that encourages intellectual growth and creativity.

All the faculty and technical staff members are highly experienced with more than 15years of experience. They are intensively involved in departmental R and D activities. Already department received several R and D grants from different Govt. funding agencies like UGC,AICTE etc. Students are also doing several real time projects under the guidance of their faculty members. Depart has four active MOU with different industries. There are several Industry collaboration activities like Industry Mentor Meet  (atleast twice in a semeter), Industry Visit (atleast once in a  semeter), Mock interview by industry experts for pre-final year students, Seminar & Workshop organized by academician from different reputed organizations and eminent personalities from industry (atleast four times in a semerster) etc. Department nurturing the talents of the students in several fields like cultural, sports etc.In every semester students are publishing one wall-magazine “NIRVANA “.Department publish the departmental newsletter “ECS Times” once in a semester.

About the Department
  • This course provides the perfect balance of best of both worlds – Software driven by hardware which makes the transition to the world of job opportunities feel seamless.
  • The graduates from this course will be well equipped with the essential technical knowledge in both the fields of hardware and software, which in turn will widen the scope of job as well as research.
  • Apart from fundamentals of Electronics, ECS graduates get an exposure to build smart systems that develop Cyber Physical Systems  and IoT. The students will also get to work in the domains of data science and data analytics.
  • This program will give exposure to advanced level knowledge in the design of complex software enabled electronic and microelectronic hardware systems.
  • Being an Electronics and Computer Science Engineer one gets to solve technical problems and develop products which lead to an overall intellectual development.

Vision of the Department
  • DV: The Vision of the department is to create Electronics & Computer Science Engineers with outstanding technical competency in software and hardware to impart research aptitude for societal benefit.
Mission of the Department
  • DM-1: To provide high quality technical education and training in response to the changing needs of industries and society through an innovative learning process related to Electronics and Computer Science.
  • DM-2: To develop employable and competent Electronics & Computer Science Engineers with high academic credentials and to inspire them to take up higher studies and research.

Program Specific Objective

Engineering Graduates will be able to:

  • PSO 1: Apply the fundamental knowledge of core Electronics and Computer Science domains in the analysis, design & development of different types of integrated electronic systems and also can utilize their fundamental concepts and methodology of computer systems in terms of software and hardware used in industrial environments.
  • PSO 2: Apply fundamental concepts and methodology of Electronics and Computer Science to establish themselves as a successful entrepreneur.
  • PSO 3: Use scientific & engineering fundamentals, skills & tools to formulate, solve & analyze software and hardware problems related to industry & research in the field of Electronics and Computer Science.


Program Outcomes

Engineering Graduates will be able to:

  • PO1: Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • PO2: Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • PO3: Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • PO4: Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • PO5: Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • PO6: The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • PO7: Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  • PO8: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

The Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) are established such that the graduates from this program can achieve their goal in their professional fields.

These program educational objectives are as given below:

  • PEO 1: Graduates of Electronics & Computer Science program will be able to incorporate their knowledge to excel in professional career and also use the fundamental knowledge to enhance the power of invention, innovation & entrepreneurship.
  • PEO 2: Graduates of Electronics & Computer Science program will have strong foundation in mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals necessary to formulate, solve and analyse engineering problems related to industry and research through lifelong learning.
  • PEO 3: Graduates of Electronics & Computer Science program will be able to inculcate the professional and ethical code of conduct, communication skills, and team work so as to use technology for the progress to the society.
